                                   Summary

Chapter 7: The Night On The Hill

Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry ran out from the haunted house when Injun Joe and Spaniard left the house. Now they started to guard the hotel which was having room number two as Injun Joe discussed with the Spaniard in the haunted house. Tom went into the room number two of hotel and Huck was guarding outside. Tom put his leg on Injun Joe's hand and he ran out from there. He was saved because Injun Joe was sleeping on the floor and he was drunk. Tom told Huck that Huck had to keep an eye on the arrival and departure of Injun Joe and Spaniard from the hotel. Tom went to his house because Aunt Polly will get angry if he will not go home in the night. There was no issue for Huck because Huck used to sleep on the footpaths. Tom told Huck if he saw Injun Joe and Spaniard so he will go to the Tom's window and say "meow". Tom reached his home and waited for the meow of Huck but did not get any voice. On Friday, Tom heard that Becky Thatcher and her friends were going to the cave for the picnic. So, he was become happy and joined the procession to go on picnic on Saturday morning. He told Becky that they will get separated from the friends in the cave and they will see cave more closely then they will go on the hills and spend time with Widow Douglas because she will get happy from them and give ice-cream to them. Although Mrs. Thatcher told Becky to stay with Susy Harper's mother. They all went to the cave in the steam ferryboat through river. They lit up candles and looked passages of the cave. The cave was like puzzle. They enjoyed a lot there and they came back to the ferry boat one by one to get back home.

On the other hand, Huck saw Injun Joe and Spaniard leaving the hotel so Huck started to follow them. He did not go to call Tom because he knew that men will get away and he will never see them again. They both went up to the hill after crossing Welshman's house. Huck was continuously following them. They suddenly vanished from his eyes on the hill and he just listened their voices. They were talking about to slit nose of the Widow Douglas as her husband whipped Injun Joe in the public. Huck ran away from there and reached to the house of Welshman. He knocked at the door of Welshman and told him and his son about the two men were talking about slitting nose of Widow Douglas. Welshman and his two sons went behind Injun Joe and Spaniard. Huck also followed them. He heard the voice of gun shooting so Huck ran away from there.
